With a diverse membership representing a variety of genres, membership activities provide a melting pot of the finest Trinidad and Tobago culture.
COTT’s Annual Music Awards is primarily designed to pay tribute to member songwriters, composers and music publishers, reinstating credibility to creators, whose efforts are often overshadowed by the spotlight accorded performing artistes who popularize their works.
Although the performer and songwriter are sometimes a single identity, completely different skills and talents are involved. At the basis of COTT's corporate philosophy is the view that without the creation of music there would be no need for an entertainer.
With membership now well past the 1,400, COTT administers most of this country’s music.
For the categories of Songwriter, Female Songwriter, New Songwriter, and Publisher of the Year the criteria are based on performance and recording of various songs written or co-written by the nominees according to broadcast logs, live performances, recordings and other data provided to COTT during the period 2004 to 2005.
