Anti Piracy Campaign
COTT participated in the Anti-Piracy Campaign launched on January 12th by the Ministry of Legal Affairs and TIDCO.
Copyright Week 25th-29th
COTT was represented at Copyright Week hosted by the Ministry of Legal Affairs and the World Intellectual Property Organisation. COTT's Deputy Chairperson, Allison Demas, presented a paper entitled "Development & Current Status of Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Protection in Trinidad and Tobago".
Cott 1996 Music Awards
The first COTT annual music awards were incorporated into the finale of Copyright Week and was held at the Trinidad Hilton Hotel's Savannah Terrace on January 29th.
1998 February
Carnival 1998 Winners
COTT members once again enjoyed a successful Carnival 1998 by writing the following compositions for the respective competitions:- "Look Behind the Surface" and "Vision of T&T in the Year 2010" written by Gregory Ballantyne and performed by Calypso Monarch "Mystic Prowler"; "Ato Party" written and performed by the Soca Monarch Austin Lyons "Superblue"; "Footsteps" written by Machel Montano and performed by Wayne Rodriguez, the Road March Champion; "One Billion Shall Rise"and "My Apology" written and performed Sheldon Reid, winner of the Young King title; and "Understanding" written and performed by Shirlaine Hendrickson the Calypso Queen.
1998 March
Meeting With Broadcasters
On March 26th COTT met with executives of broadcasting companies and presented COTT's proposals for a new licensing scheme.
