Hilite COTT's New Logo

During 2001, COTT's Board of Directors decided, as part of an on-going program to upgrade the image of the organization, that one of the first steps to be undertaken should be a redesign of the organization's logo that had first been developed when COTT was originally incorporated in 1985.

There was a general consensus that the logo had become dated, and did not readily convey the impression of dynamism and viatlity that was being sought. Further, it also did not give any indication that music was at the core of COTT's operations.

Accordingly, Mr. Christopher Cozier, one of the country's leading artists and graphic designers, was commissioned to redesign the logo and to revamp all the organization's visible manifestations: signage, letterheads and envelopes, calling cards, complimentary slips, website home page, etc., and to create for COTT a more contemporary image.

In keeping with his brief, Mr. Cozier initially produced a series of different but related designs that he submitted to the Board. From these, one was selected for further development and finishing. Working in collaboration with Layout specialist, Mr. John Gonsalves, the design took its final form.

The new logo features a circle representing the world, superimposed by a musical note that is intended to indicate COTT's principal concern, with a wedge-shaped segment designating the organization's overall contribution to, and place in, the wider world of music. The circle is supported by the COTT acronym. The logo is finished in the organization's corporate colours - red, black and white. Since its introduction, the new logo has attracted widespread attention and has been the subject of much favorable comment.
