What's on the beat for COTT members, COTT licensees and those interested in the local music industry.

COTT Launches “new look” website

On Friday 18th November, 2011 the Copyright Music Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago (COTT) unveiled an exciting “new look” website at its premises on 139-141 Abercromby Street Port of Spain. The website address remains www.cott.org.tt. When members and other stakeholders click on the COTT website they will be pleasantly surprised at the more user friendly look and feel of the site. It will offer a visually more appealing homepage with simple navigational tools which will more effectively bridge the communication gap between COTT, its members, customers requiring COTT licenses and the public at large.

The new CEO of COTT, Ms Patt Christopher, in unveiling the website pointed to its new features. Ms. Christopher disclosed that:

  • 1. COTT Members will now be able to access their royalty information online for the first time. A secured member login facility will ensure confidentiality of the royalty information available to COTT members only.
  • 2. Licensees will now be able to request information on various copyright related issues from COTT online.
  • 3. The new look website will see the greater use of multimedia tools such as music videos and interviews from members.
  • 4. A greater use of the social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube will be incorporated into how information is accessed from the COTT website. This will facilitate direct updates from the website to the popular social media sites.
  • 5. In addition the website will feature music industry updates, a COTT Calendar of Events and other news from the organisation.

Mr. Josh Rudder, Manager of Information Technology and Distribution, said that COTT recreated its website because of a need to fulfil the increasing expectations of its membership and customers in an ever evolving technological environment. Ms. Christopher closed by encouraging all interested parties to get online and avail themselves of the new and exciting features on www.cott.org.tt.
