The Copyright Music Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago (COTT), the premier collective society for composers and for the protection of musical works in Trinidad and Tobago, is pleased announce the appointment of Mr. Ryan Romany as the President to its Board of Directors. He replaces Mr. Lutalo Masimba who served as President for the last 9 years and has been re-elected to serve as the organisation’s Vice President.
Ryan Romany founded the publishing company Worldbeat Studios in Tunapuna and has worked with several high profile artistes and was a guitarist for several bands including Shandileer, Sound Revolution, Taxi, 3 Veni and Melobugs, as well as toured with top international artistes Percy Sledge, Luther Vandross and Roberta Flack.
On his appointment, Mr. Masimba congratulated Mr. Romany for embracing the opportunity to lead an organisation as COTT. “I am really excited for the organisation because there is a new person at the helm that augurs well for the organisation – I will be there to give my fullest support in this transition.”
Mr. Romany is a teacher with the San Juan Secondary School and is the holder of a certification in Human Resource Management among others. At present, he is in pursuit of his Masters of Business Administration with the Heriot Watt University.
The Directors were elected by members at its’ Annual Members’ Meeting on Tuesday 31st May, 2011 and includes Rev. Angela Williams, Dexter “PJay” Harper, Masimba Publishing, Nadia Batson, Ronald Forde, Samraj “Rikki Jai” Jaimungal and representative for World Beat Publishing.
