What is COTT?
The Copyright Music Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago is a national and non-profit (but commercial) association representing over 1100 songwriters, music composers, and music publishers locally. Through COTTs direct and indirect reciprocal agreements with international affiliates, COTT represents virtually the worldwide repertoire of copyright music, which at present amounts to some 17 million active works.
COTTs role is to licence music users for the broadcasting, public performance and recording of music in Trinidad and Tobago, to collect license fees or royalties; and to distribute royalties to its members and foreign copyright owners.

- Members Group Life Insurance Plan Members with 3 years of membership can benefit from this plan. After the death of the member, the authorized family member can apply for the benefit of $25,000.00 maximum.
- COTT also lobbies government for improvements in copyright law. (Currently the Copyright Act of 1997 is under review for amendments).
- Successor Membership - When a COTT member dies his spouse, child, relative, next of kin or beneficiary under a will can apply for Successor Membership. This successor member can collect royalties up to 50 years after the death of the COTT member.
- COTT hosts its annual music awards

- Increased distributions from 2 to 4 per year in different categories Reproduction Right, Foreign Receipts, Carnival, General and Broadcasting.
- COTT hosts a number of seminars and workshops for its members and non-members.
