Online music piracy is copying, importing, distributing or selling the music of others via the internet without the authorization or licence of the right owners. This is popularly done by downloading mp3 files of songs, albums or compilations, streaming, download on demand, ringtones and ringbacks, for example. These activities are easy to do on the net. However, because it’s easy does not mean it’s legal. All owners of websites making these downloads available must obtain a licence from COTT or the rights owner to do so. If you are not sure that a website is legal, call COTT at (868) 624-COTT (2688) before you beginning streaming and downloading. See Contact Us or send us a Piracy Report Form. All our sources of piracy reports are kept in the strictest confidence. |
