The Board, Management and staff of COTT extend deepest condolences to the family of the late Sheldon "ShelShok" Benjamin. COTT would also like to take the opportunity to celebrate his life. Heather Baldwin- Mc Dowell, Manager Communications and Members Relations said "a truly gifted writer/producer has been lost to our nation and the indigenous music fraternity". ShelShok as he was affectionately known was a member of COTT. He worked with some the best in the music business like Machel Montano., Destra Garcia, Atlantic and  3 Canal just to mention a few. He will remembered as a hit maker of note.

Sheldon received the 9th Annual COTT Music award for the Jingle of the Year in 2007 with "Roll It Gal" which was co-written with Shontelle Layne of Barbados.  This song was made popular by Soca Artiste, Allison Hinds of Barbados. In that same year he  shared the honour  with 3 Canal for co-writing "Good Morning Neighbour" which won Rapso Song of the Year.. At the l0th Annual COTT Music Awards in 2008 he again received the COTT award for Rapso of the Year with "Never Give Up" which he also co-wrote with 3 Canal . "ShelShock" has been a luminary in the indigenous music industry for some twenty years enriching our local content offerings in a major way.

COTT President Lutalo Masimba (Brother Resistance) had this to say "Shelshok's sudden passing will leave a vacuum which will be very hard to fill. His passing represents a great lost to the new generation of music producers. He was instrumental in pushing forward that wave of Rapso performers from Kindred of the Kiskidee experience to the evolution of 3 Canal. He will be sorely missed."
